Bricks on the Walls? Wow!

The brick laying is coming along okay, although has been slowed down by rain today and yesterday. When they first started laying it, I told Steve "I don't like it." Great. Too late now! Actually, it's getting better. The mortar was so dark when it was wet, making the whole wall look dark.

The mortar is still wet (and dark), but is getting lighter. I think I'll like it. :^D The brick layers are very nice guys and are really doing a super job.

Here's the scaffolding down the right side of the house. I used an automatic depth of field setting on the camera, so it makes the side of the house look even longer.

And by bathroom window is FINALLY installed. I am now paranoid that a brick will hit it. This is the fifth window - the first one was cracked when the carpenters opened the box, second one was the wrong one, third one was broken when they opened the box at the window company before delivering it, the fourth one was also the wrong window. This is the view from my bathroom....

...and here's the view from outside.

This is a very close picture of the glass in the side lights of my front door. I thought it was interesting.

We built our own home over a year ago.... moved in July 14th.... It was so hard... but worth the effort.

Yeah for progress!

THe house is looking great. I LOVE the bathroom window. I would worry too about the bricklayers but if it gets broken they'll need to replace it.... praying it stays safe.

The house looks great Ginger! I especially like your front door. Arthur and I have been going back and forth on a new front door for our house. Something like this would work. We want something that lets in light, but also something that the dogs can't see clearly out of. They end up barking at everything!

The building is coming along beautifully! The window is gorgeous. I can't believe how many have been broken during the process of construction.

I'm so glad you're sharing the pics with us. It's going to be amazing when it's all completed.

UGH.. you've had quite a time with that window. It's GORGEOUS! I hope you like the bricks. I'm sure it's hard to tell until they get a little further along.

I love brick houses, and I like your roofline.

Your bathroom window looks great! I have one about the same size with clear glass. On the one hand, I want to be able to see out; but there's the possibility of someone seeing in. I hate to cover even a little of it with window covering, but we'll have to do something!

I'm really enjoying following your progress on the house, Ginger. In a few years, my hubby & I will be doing the same. :-)
