Our Wild Backyard

Today, boys and girls, we get to watch a wild zebra grazing on the plains. Zebras love nice, green grass and this zebra is in for quite a feast!

:::foreboding music::: Oh no! We've just sighted a hungry female cheetah. It appears she is stalking our little zebra. Run, little zebra! :::whoop whoop whoop::: (Those are zebra noises, boys and girls.)

She seems to be closing in. This isn't looking good.

Oh dear! It appears our little zebra has become separated from the herd. That is when they are most vulnerable. Where is his mummy?

She is definitely closing in on the little guy. Look how she is hiding in the tall grass. She is a beautiful specimen.

Oh my! Poor little zebra. Perhaps the cheetah had hungry babies to feed. Nature shows can be messy business.

Today's show was brought to you by Brooke, Canon 3D Papercraft website, Stampin' Up! Paper Snips and Two-Way Glue Pen (you're welcome, Brooke - feel free to nab whatever you need from my scrapbook bag without permission - NOT) and the letter Z.

[And, yes, I know I need to mow the savanna. :^) Brooke's cheetah is 7" tall. And the grass was WAY over his head. The joys of living in a subtropical climate!]

Wow! Congrats on your new home and stamp room:) To answer your question about my card catalog, I bought it on a military base. They had a huge furniture sale. It was 4 or 5 years ago. I haven't seen one since.
I have to tell ya I tried to cruise your blog but when I saw the snake and bugs I had to stop! LOL I know they can't get me through the computer, but they just creep me out:)
I'm sure you have already thought of this but just in case, you probably don't want carpet in your stamproom it's a real pain. Our house was 2 yrs old when we bought it there was/is carpet in there. I can't wait to get it taken out. Also my stamp room has a huge window great for light but the light fades my CS so I can only store my CS on the same wall as the window KWIM? I can't wait to see your finished space:)I will keep checkin back!

Hi Dee!

My son is in the Navy, so I'll tell him if they have any furniture sales, to be on the lookout for a card catalog!

Don't worry - I hate carpet, so there will be none in my scrap room - nor in the entire house. I'll be putting wood laminate flooring upstairs.

I do have four smaller windows in my room, but I didn't think about the light fading my cardstock. I'll be sure to keep it out of the light! Thanks for the tip!

The "savannah" is exactly as the cheetah likes it - it's very hard to sneak up on a zebra if you don't have enough cover!! What fun ... My 3.5yr old enjoyed that!

Great job, Brooke...impressive! Love the realism also...the zebra doesn't usually get away.

I read the first paragraph about a zebra, and I thought Oh MY goodness, someone nearby has a pet ZEBRA!!!!!!

LOL.

Kristine,

No pet zebras, but a lady down the street has (had) wolves, llamas, and monkeys in addition to the usual cats/dogs/racoons. (Like racoons are usual.)

Brooke's horse trainer has a baboon and bobcats.

We're surrounded by wildlife!!!
