NOT our house - one of the million we looked at - all the brick styles are looking the same now!We arrived home a 3:30 a.m. this morning, slept about 5 hours, and had a million and one things to do. First was laundry. Second was actually more pressing - WE NEED TO PICK OUT BRICK FOR OUR HOUSE!!! We thought we had decided on one until we saw it actually on a house. Deciding on a brick is a difficult thing. You can look at the samples in the showroom, but it looks completely different on a whole house. And the same brick can look different from one house to the next, depending on the mortar color or brick lot or even the way the bricklayer lays the brick.
Once you decide you like one brick from one company, you go to another company that has totally different brick. You see different samples on the wall, go to different subdivisions to see it on different houses, think you like one, but then you can't remember if you like it better than the first brick in the first subdivision from the first company.
Finally I just said THAT ONE!!! JUST GET THAT ONE!!! So much for decisions. Now to decide on the mortar color.....

I think it would be incredibly hard to make decisions on brick. Actually I think making the hundreds (or is it thousands) of decisions that go into building a home is totally overwhelming. Have there been some things that you were passionate about and others you didn't care at all?

Yes, there are TONS of decisions to make. How tall for the cabinets? How many drawers? Where to put the electrical outlets. And on and on and on.
I DEFINITELY had strong feelings about my front door and bathroom window that'll go over my tub. I felt strongly about my tub, too, because I love to soak and I'm short - some of them were made to where when I sat back in them, I would have slid right under the water. Hmm...not at all conducive to a relaxing soak.
I'm also passionate about the lights I've picked out. Everytime we save money on one thing, I ask, "Does this mean I can get my lights? What about that fan for the living room?" :^D
That's the reason why we'll never be able to build a new home...... I would never get past the deciding on the floor plan phase.
